Premium imported pre-hardened plastic mould steel, stocked in depth across our Mumbai warehouses.
2311 is a chromium-molybdenum mould steel that arrives from the mill already hardened and tempered, so a mould maker can machine a cavity straight out of the block without sending it out for heat treatment. That single fact is why it's the most-ordered grade in our warehouse — it saves the customer a full processing step and the distortion risk that comes with it.
It machines cleanly, takes a good polish for general cosmetic finishes, and holds a fairly even hardness through small and medium cross-sections. It isn't meant for abrasive or high-wear production runs — for that we'd point a customer to 2738HH or H13 — but for day-to-day plastic tooling and mould bases, it's the reliable, cost-effective default.
Because we import it in bulk, we hold 2311 across a wide size range and cut it to the block size a customer specifies, rather than making them buy a standard mill size and waste material.
