Corrosion-resistant stainless mould steel imported and stocked for medical, optical and food-contact tooling.
2083 is a chromium stainless mould steel — around 13% chromium — used wherever a cavity needs to resist corrosion or take a true mirror polish. Standard mould steels rust or pit under humidity, condensation, or aggressive plastics like PVC; 2083 doesn't, which is why it's the default choice for medical and optical tooling.
Beyond corrosion resistance, its fine, clean microstructure is what lets toolmakers polish it to an optical-grade finish for lens moulds, and it hardens up well when a cavity needs both the corrosion resistance and wear resistance for long production runs.
We stock 2083 in both annealed and pre-hardened condition, and cut it to size across a wide range of block dimensions.
